January 8, 2025 from 10am-2pm - Still Life (Pastels)
This class is ideal for those who want to experience the beautiful medium of soft pastels. Good for complete beginners or those of you with some experience.
Students will be working from still life fruits and vegetables, attempting to express their differences by how the pastels are used. Instructor will cover/show the following:
- how to make your own pastel paper
- how to use underpainting washes
- discuss principles of good composition and layout
- review colour selection.
- discuss the process of building up our pastels
- discuss techniques for achieving depth through colour placement.
The goal will be a realistic representation of the still life in front of us.
This is a fun, lively learning experience, therefore Instructor invites students not to be too precious about the piece they produce in the class. The point is to learn some skills to be able to apply them to your own practice.
Please also note the following:
- Artwork will be ready to take home after the class.
